I have lived those old messages and one day in my search for a new way of understanding, I started the process of writing this timely and heart felt book. Yes, positive change is possible.

Art on Products - Some History

Here you can find out about some of the background about CherylsArt; the CherylsArt that is on Zazzle.com.

When I was a kid, one of my elementary school teachers had asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" The first answer that I thought was artist. But for some reason, at the time, I thought, "No. I'd better come up with a second choice."

For whatever reason I thought no, I can only guess. Perhaps it was in my subconscious that artists don't become successful, at least not in their lifetime, or so it seemed. Or perhaps it was because I got the most praise and encouragement to work on math, from my father. Or perhaps it was the fear of what my teacher might actually say to such an idea. For whatever reason it was, it was a decision that I made way back when, that I've had to overcome, and have overcome. I made a new decision.

As a new mom, one day when I was out with my daughter, I took the neighborhood side streets home, and I saw a yard sale that had a two sided easel for sale. One side was higher than the other side. My heart sang! I can have the taller side and my daughter can have the shorter side! I felt blessed to be driving home with the two sided easel in the back of my car.

When I decided to become a professional artist, I wasn't all that good at it. It wasn't something I had been honing all of those years. I had to learn skills. So I set about practicing. I watched Bob Ross videos, and purchased artist books and did many of the exercises. I also attended some artist workshops.

Once I got some techniques down, I figured I should decide on what kind of art I wanted to create. One day a sales clerk commented that as I got better at painting (Which is the main type of art I was doing at the time.), I would want to buy bigger canvases. After that purchase, I commenced to buying bigger canvases. It was kind of nice painting large. I joined an artist's group and exhibited some of my paintings. When I took in a rather large shark painting to display, I got the question, "Why did you paint that?" I painted the shark so that I could practice painting teeth, lol. But I did get some comments that so and so would like that kind of a design on a t-shirt. Hmm.

Anyway, I searched for other avenues of making art. I have always liked functional art, art on things that also had a functional purpose. I read about floor cloths and started making those. I sold some at an art fair. I made some more, but also realized that I was running out of space to create them; it required getting down on the cement floor to glue (hem) the edges, and leave them there with weights on the hems, while they dried.

I went smaller and started making pet placemats instead. Size wise, it was working out better; I didn't have to get down on the floor so much, but then I had placemats drying on the washing machine and dryer, and wherever I could find a place. I sold some to friends, around town, and also on the internet. I got great positive feedback, yet I knew I didn't want to keep wondering where all I was going to place them, and what I would do if I received any large orders.

I went smaller, and started hand painting postcards. I got an order for fifty and graciously accommodated my customer. It was pretty cool. They all fit on my table; I didn't have to worry about size and space. Yay! It seemed that small was the better choice for me!

I really got in to painting a particular design. Then it wasn't so appealing to me to paint it over and over again. Hmm.

I was figuring out my don't likes and transforming them into my do likes. I did like painting small. I just didn't like repetition so much. My next step was the internet in a bigger way. I could paint small. A print on demand company could easily do the repetition part. Yay! A win win!

It took a couple of tries to find a print on demand company that was a good fit for me. It was another process of figuring out my likes and don't likes, and then focusing more on the likes. That led me to the one that I have worked in association with for over 16 years.

This is one of my popular postcard designs; the bee enjoying a flower with my hand drawn honeycomb background.

I had already come up with a business name, back when I was making floor cloths, I had come up with Creative Brushstrokes, LLC. It was too long to fit in the number of boxes I was allowed to use on the print on demand site, Zazzle.com, so I went with my first name. That is how CherylsArt came to be.

I have been creating small designs ever since, and love it. I love the freedom it gives me in creating, and that the print on demand company does the printing, shipping, and billing. My designs are printed on every day products, including t-shirts, cups, magnets, and more; all very functional choices. It works for me.

Another one of my loves are cats. Our cat Muffin is so full of love. I did a picture of her in pointillism and added my birthday hat design. Doesn't she look adorable on this paper plate!

She seemed to be a purr-fect match for conveying some fun and love.

Hope you enjoyed reading about my background. Wishing you a blessed and great day!

Art on Products - Fashion Trendy Belt Buckles

I had been wanting to make some new belt buckle designs. Then one evening I was watching Income Property on HGTV. The opening showed Scot McGillivray dressed up in a suit, and wearing a simple black center belt buckle. Whoa yeah, I have a cool black textured design that would look great on belt buckles. So the next day I commenced to making some stylish belt buckles. The first one, of course, being black.

This one is a textured look from a painting I did on canvas. The texture looks like millions of little tiny stars way out in the galaxy; making it a bit different than the one McGillivray was wearing.

For more design and flare, and for those who like patterns, pick this kaleidoscope pattern of stars; they have a petal like flower shape in a circular pattern.

For a splash of bold red, choose the solid red that also looks textured. It is simple, yet bold and impressive. This makes a fun choice for Christmas and for anytime for those who love the color red.

If love is in the air, go for the poinsettia hearts on a red crisscross pattern on white. This is a great design for Christmas, Valentine's Day, and weddings too!

For a fun and modern look, pick the pink blossom trees on a purple background. I think this would be a cool choice to wear to school functions.

This one is for tropical fish lovers. I love seeing all the various colors and patterns that they wear. What do you think? Leave a comment below.

For any of the above belt buckles, you can choose the oval or rectangle style. The rectangle shape will show more of the image, where as the oval shape has the curved edges.

These belt buckles are made in the USA, and are UV resistant and water proof. The images have a UV resistant and waterproof coating, giving them a beautiful finished look.

Click on any of the links above to begin your purchase today. Still looking? You can view more belt buckles by CherylsArt at my store on Zazzle.com.

Art on Products - Swimming Otters

We were at a zoo of sorts when I saw them. They were swimming, their fur sleeked back as they came up out of the water. They rolled, they played, they swam up to shore. I was enthralled to see these two swimming otters.

They looked like they were having so much fun. I decided to do a painting of them. Here is my painting of them printed on a tshirt. They can be ordered on any shirt style and color of your choice.

Otters are mammals that belong to the weasel family. Weasels are known for being slender carnivores with brownish fur. In northern regions, the brownish fur turns white in the winter.

Otter fans can showcase their love for otters with an otters license plate frame.

Otters live mostly in the water, but they can come to shore to rest or to sleep. However, they can also sleep in the water while laying on their backs.

Here's a fun way to say Thank you to otter lovers:

Otters may be getting ready for a meal when they're on their backs. They'll use hard tools, like rocks, to smash open the hard shell of a sea critter for dinner.

Sea otter mothers give birth while in the water. They also nurse their young while laying on their backs.

Do you like otters? Do you have an interesting fact to share about otters?

Mother and Child Giraffes Products and Art

Most of my art up until now has been paintings and outline drawings. But I recently read a book that inspired me to try something new.

Can you tell what I did? Does it look like a painting? Actually it is a drawing. First I drew the outline of the bodies. Then I used Sharpie Markers to color in the base color. Then I used Prang Colored Pencils - to add depth and shading. Voila.

These cards with a mother and child giraffe are a great choice for Mother's day.

Here are the giraffes printed on tshirts; the mother and child can have the same design on their shirts.

Let me know what you think. Have you done any art in one medium that looks like it's been done in a different medium?

This giraffe design can easily be used for a mother and child painting activity. The drawing outline is printed on faux canvas; it dries quicked than stretched canvas. If you want a different foundation to paint on, you can go to the product page and then look for the option to, Transfer design to a product.

Halloween Wizard Cat and Pumpkin Ghost Stickers, Aprons, and Bags

I love Halloween. It's a colorful time of the year and a fun time to let your imagination soar. There are golds and reds in the trees, and kids are dreaming of what they want to be; like the cat wanting to be a wizard and the pumpkin wanting to act like a ghost, on these fun stickers.

Everyone can join in on the fun with matching aprons. The aprons come in two styles for adults, and a kids style. There are three colors to choose from.

Kids can use these canvas tote bags for a sturdier choice for Trick or Treating. As of this printing, there are five different bag styles to choose from.

Whatever you're doing for Halloween, or any time in between, may you have a wonderful time, and continue being what you want to be.

Love and blessings.

Art on Products - Educational Dart Boards

Did you ever want to play darts with some added challenge? How about playing darts where you can spell out words? If you get really good, you can spell out a sentence. No more having to aim at one particular spot in the center. The challenge is to aim for a particular spot in a particular order.

If your aim isn't quite on par with your target letter, you can spell a word starting with whatever letter you land on!

What will be your spelling pleasure?

The blank spaces can be used for spaces between words. Points can be earned for spelling a word correctly, or however you want to play.

If spelling is not your game, then perhaps math is. Do you long for a creative way to practice equations? You can begin with simple equations and work your way up to more complex equations. Again, you can earn points for making a correct equation; that's if you're keeping score.

If spelling and math are not your forte, then perhaps eating healthier is. This fruit and vegetable dart board is designed for fun, and awareness to include more fruits and vegetables in your life. Enjoy. Wouldn't this be a fun way to order produce!

If you prefer to play darts the old fashioned way, then perhaps these lines will help you to aim for the center.

May you have a blessed day.

Art on Products - Kaleidoscope Cats Mandala

Here you will find a fun outline drawing of four cats arranged in a circular kaleidoscope pattern, with four hearts arranged in the center where the cats' bodies meet.

I love cats and making cat designs. I was intrigued by some of the mandala type coloring books and liked the ones that were more simple; less lines are actually more fun to me. Voila, the idea was born. A mandala of cats, which also reminds me of a kaleidoscope design.

May and or your cat loving friends and family enjoy some cat-tastic fun.

These four cats can be enjoyed as they are, and on some ideas for painting and coloring fun.

For some painting fun, the cats are printed on wrapped canvas. This can be a fun kids project and or one
for adults. It can be the purr-fect solution for the blank space on the wall. It can also make a nice gift.

Kids to adults can have multiple times of coloring and or painting fun with these kaleidoscope cats notepads. There are 40 sheets to a pad, for multiple times and or for multiple kids. The recommended size is 5.5 by 6 inches, which allows printing of the whole design.

Another option for painting is a cute apron. These aprons are a 35/65 cotton-poly twill blend and are machine washable. I recommend washing the aprons first, without fabric softener, and drying them completely before painting. Place protection under the apron to prevent bleed through of the paints. I have used acrylic fabric paint before with good results.

Thank you for visiting. Please feel free to share this page with other cat lovers.
