Morgantown West Virginia Postcards

If you are searching for postcards that feature Morgantown, West Virginia, you have found the right place.

There are several designs to choose from here, that showcase the downtown area as seen from the Westover Bridge.

This first postcard features my photograph of downtown, shown through a cutout of the letters of the word, Morgantown.

My second photo features a view of Morgantown, WV, as seen from Dorsey's Knob. The large rock on the lower left is called Sky Rock. There are some various hiking options at Dorsey Knob, a covered pavilion, and also a disc golf course.

My third photo features the Evansdale area with the Monongahela River in view. Part of the West Virginia University is in Evansdale.

This photo features mainly the Evansdale area, along with Coliseum. There are basketball games, gymnastics, and other events that are held at the Coliseum. The fans like to get out and support the teams.

This view is also taken from the Granville area; it showcases the new baseball field located in Granville. There are shopping, lodging, and restaurant options nearby.

If you have a student that will be attending West Virginia University, then I recommend giving them a pack of stamped postcards to encourage them to write home more often. A multi-postcard discount is applied when you purchase eight or more postcards from Zazzle, and they can be different designs. If you use a promotion code to save, then you will receive whichever discount is the greatest.

Sparrow in Cherry Blossom Tree Plein-Air

sparrow and cherry blossoms
I finally took the plunge and did a plain air drawing. I wanted to keep things simple so I opted for colored pencils and drawing paper. Perhaps some other time, I might try plein-air with paints.

I decided to go down town by the waterfront. I had planned on painting a duck or two; I've seen them down by the waterfront before. But that day, they weren't around.

While I ate my lunch on the deck of of the restaurant, I perused the sights to see what might be a good subject. There were people bicycling on the rail trail, and I gave that some thought. I cataloged general shapes of such in my mind.

The other thing that caught my attention was the sparrows flitting about. Some even came pretty close; one even perched on the railing near where I sat. I scanned his body and tried to keep the details in my mind. In a minute he flew away.

Ah, such is the venue when your subject has wings, Anyway, the sparrow won, and I commenced to drawing as much as I could from memory. I got the main part of his body done and some of the noticeable markings on the feathers. I knew I could do a computer search when I got home, or even hopefully have some of the sparrows that frequent my backyard to fill in as models.

As I continued to glance around I also noticed cherry blossom trees near by. Ah, that would be a nice compliment to help frame my feathered friend.

So this is what I came up with.

The first drawing is shown with a white background.

On this one, I added some blue sky with my computer air brush software. It gives it a kind of abstract sky affect.

Custom Lined Shamrock Stationery

Here you will find a fine selection of shamrock stationery. You will find various designs of shamrocks. Some designs have a shamrock border that go around the page, other designs feature shamrocks that showcase the senders address, and various other placement of shamrocks as well.

This first design features two shamrocks that are trimmed in gold dots - for a touch of elegance and perhaps some thoughts of good luck. The address at the top is easily customized by typing in your information on the provided template form.

For a bit more green and less personalization, you can go for the border of this same shamrock, that is printed around the edge of light green paper.

This third design features a collage of shamrocks, in various shades of green. The design borders both the top and the bottom of the stationery.

Last but not least is this design of a three leaf clover that I painted with a chain pull method. The shamrock is printed at the top left and at the bottom right to indicate the beginning and the end of the letter.

All four designs are lined for easy writing, and keeping things straighter. I don't know about you, but I usually write on an uphill slant when the lines aren't provided.

Here's to you, and lots of good cheery thoughts to share throughout the year.

Thinking of You Cards and Postcards

Here are some nice cards and postcards to show someone that you are thinking of them. It's nice to know that others are thinking about you, and or that you are thinking about them.

In this first card, a cute teddy bear is sitting in the chair, as if to say, wish you were here with me. It would be perfect to send to someone that you would like to be with, to let them know that you have saved a special spot just for them.

This postcard showcases a portrait of our tuxedo cat. She is looking up with those big welcoming and loving eyes, letting you know that she's there for you. It's a purr-fect choice for cat lovers.

If your recipients like flowers, this lovely gold foil lilies card is a beautiful choice. The lilies are done in an outline style drawing. The inside of the card is blank for your own personal message.

Art on Products - Peace Flag Products

The original flag for the United States had the thirteen red and white stripes, with a circle of stars. Using that as the basis for a new idea, I decided to make a peace sign out of the stars and place them on a background of red and white stripes. Their number is still thirteen, and there are fifty stars that make up the peace sign.

This makes a lovely design on throw pillows. The reverse side is solid red for more options.

They make a fun way to share some patriotic news on postcards.

Art on Products, Yellow Swallowtail Butterfly Stationery

butterfly in pointillism
The swallowtail butterfly has a tail like extension on its bottom wings; that is how it got its name, swallowtail.

I love butterflies, no matter what kind they are, and I also love painting them. The yellow swallowtail is one of many butterflies that I've painted so far. In this one the butterfly itself is done in pointillism. The stems and leaves are painted with regular acrylic blending techniques.

This pretty butterfly is shown to the left of the address on lined stationery. The address is easy to personalize on the provided template form.

A larger version is printed on these custom postcards.

If you prefer more private correspondence, this beautiful design is also ready on greeting cards.

And here it is on stickers; a pretty way to seal the envelope.

If your thoughts are more towards, Thinking of you, then this card is for you.

Thank you for stopping by.

Art on Products - Happy Thoughts and Designs

I love happy thoughts and designs. I love looking at, giving, and receiving cheerfulness. I planted flowers along the edge of my backyard so I can see their vibrant colors when they are in bloom. How about you? Do you love cheeriness and happiness? If so, you'll probably like what I found when I searched on happy for this blog.

It's great to offer happy thoughts for someone's hobby, endeavors, etc., such as this happy gardening card. I had read a book that had mentioned that plants that had people focus on them, all other things being equal, grew bigger than the plants that didn't receive people's attention.

My garden makes me happy. I created this painting of leaves from some of the plants that I grow in my garden. They include blueberry, strawberry, basil, parsley, and carrot leaves.

There are many reasons to send happy thoughts throughout the year, occasions and holidays to celebrate, but sometimes its nice to get the unexpected wish of happiness. A card can be sent to wish someone a happy season.

Another important thing to celebrate though, is friendship. Life is so much better when we foster having good friends.

But wherever we are, whatever the occasion, and whatever time of the year it is, we can always find and or create happy. Because wherever we are, we are always connected to the spirit that connects us all.

May you find happiness and enjoy being happy every day of your life.

Update: Some products have been changed out due to broken links. Hope you enjoy the new selection.

Art on Products - Pointillism

I did a blog on polka dots; however this one is on a particular style of dots, called pointillism. The short definition of pointillism is painting a picture with dots. The dots themselves can be spread out, close together, random, overlapping, organized, one size, small to large, and/or various sizes. The dots can be round, or they can be odd shaped, as when one paints with the side of a paint brush.

This U. S. flag done in pointillism is an example of both organized and random dots, which is pictured on postcards.

The kayak scene, on a postcard, involved a lot of random and overlapping dots. It was inspired by a kayaking lesson that my husband took.

The pointillism, on the butterflies tank top, was made by single sized dots in a very organized manner with no overlapping. It gives a lace like look.

Pointillism can be used as an outline, as shown on the morning glory flower, on wedding invitations. It can be used to give elegant attention to an outline design.

Pointillism can be a fun way to enhance facial features!

I like various styles of pointillism, and I like the affect. My favorite type to paint is lots of random dots with colorful paint markers; it goes much faster.

Do you like pointillism? What is your favorite pointillism picture?
