USA Patriotic Postcards for the 4th of July

Welcome to USA Patriotic Postcards for the 4th of July. Here you will find a modern selection of red white and blue postcards for your holiday celebrations, greetings, and get togethers. The first design features my painting inspired by the United States of America flag, with a bit of re-arranging. I continued the stripes across the top, made the stars blue and arranged them into a peace sign.

Fireworks are a big part of the 4th of July celebrations in America. This design is star themed as well. The end of each tail has a blue star on it and the tails streaming behind the stars are red. The whole design is on a background of white, and Happy 4th, is written across the display in blue.

Flowers signify growth to me. This next design features my abstract flower inspired by the stars and stripes. The center of the flower is outlines of two yellow golden stars; the petals are red and white stripes, and the leaves are blue and white stripes.

If more basic is your preference, here is my painting of Old Glory, done in pointillism. The background color shown is lavender, and it can be customized to any color of your selection.

For another more modern patriotic design is my stars and stripes heart design. There are two stars in blue, slightly behind a heart done in red and white stripes. The background color is light blue and it can be customized to your color selection.

This last postcard option features stars sans the stripes. This is my painting of whites stars, outlined in blue, arranged in a star pattern. I chose red as the background color, which can be customized if you like.

Hope you have enjoyed my artwork. The above links will take you to my CherylsArt store on Zazzle, a print on demand company. Zazzle offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee within 30 days of your receipt of the item(s).Zazzle prints and ships your order; I created the designs.

Morgantown West Virginia Postcards

If you are searching for postcards that feature Morgantown, West Virginia, you have found the right place.

There are several designs to choose from here, that showcase the downtown area as seen from the Westover Bridge.

This first postcard features my photograph of downtown, shown through a cutout of the letters of the word, Morgantown.

My second photo features a view of Morgantown, WV, as seen from Dorsey's Knob. The large rock on the lower left is called Sky Rock. There are some various hiking options at Dorsey Knob, a covered pavilion, and also a disc golf course.

My third photo features the Evansdale area with the Monongahela River in view. Part of the West Virginia University is in Evansdale.

This photo features mainly the Evansdale area, along with Coliseum. There are basketball games, gymnastics, and other events that are held at the Coliseum. The fans like to get out and support the teams.

This view is also taken from the Granville area; it showcases the new baseball field located in Granville. There are shopping, lodging, and restaurant options nearby.

If you have a student that will be attending West Virginia University, then I recommend giving them a pack of stamped postcards to encourage them to write home more often. A multi-postcard discount is applied when you purchase eight or more postcards from Zazzle, and they can be different designs. If you use a promotion code to save, then you will receive whichever discount is the greatest.

Sparrow in Cherry Blossom Tree Plein-Air

sparrow and cherry blossoms
I finally took the plunge and did a plain air drawing. I wanted to keep things simple so I opted for colored pencils and drawing paper. Perhaps some other time, I might try plein-air with paints.

I decided to go down town by the waterfront. I had planned on painting a duck or two; I've seen them down by the waterfront before. But that day, they weren't around.

While I ate my lunch on the deck of of the restaurant, I perused the sights to see what might be a good subject. There were people bicycling on the rail trail, and I gave that some thought. I cataloged general shapes of such in my mind.

The other thing that caught my attention was the sparrows flitting about. Some even came pretty close; one even perched on the railing near where I sat. I scanned his body and tried to keep the details in my mind. In a minute he flew away.

Ah, such is the venue when your subject has wings, Anyway, the sparrow won, and I commenced to drawing as much as I could from memory. I got the main part of his body done and some of the noticeable markings on the feathers. I knew I could do a computer search when I got home, or even hopefully have some of the sparrows that frequent my backyard to fill in as models.

As I continued to glance around I also noticed cherry blossom trees near by. Ah, that would be a nice compliment to help frame my feathered friend.

So this is what I came up with.

The first drawing is shown with a white background.

On this one, I added some blue sky with my computer air brush software. It gives it a kind of abstract sky affect.

Honey Bees Live Organically

I had been reading reports about the honey bee not being as prevalent as it once was. Some people have eluded to the idea that this would also mean the demise of our produce. But I beg to differ. We are a resilient bunch. One thing that I have noticed throughout history, is that when a problem has presented itself, for the most part, people have come up with a way to overcome it.

I'm not saying that anyone shouldn't be concerned, but what I am saying, is that we should be asking ourselves what can we do to improve the situation.

The honey bee's role in the garden:

The honey bee helps our gardens to flourish by pollinating the various blooms. The honey bee flies from flower to flower, and pollen sticks to its fuzzy body, which then gets relocated to another flower, causing the pollination to take place.

Your role as a pollinator:

One thing that people can do, is to foster this process along themselves. On small scale gardens, the end of a Q-tip and or finger tip works fine. When the blooms have started, take a Q-tip or the tip of your finger, and gently touch the open blooms with it, going from one bloom to another. You will have pollinated your flowers. I have used this method myself.

One a larger scale, you could perhaps use a feather duster to cover a larger amount of blooms at one time. Or if you're really ingenious, you could invent a larger scale method that is both economical and eco-friendly for the masses to use.

Our roll in helping the bees:

The other thing that we can do as a people, is to plant organically. Our little insect friends live better organically and our own bodies will also benefit from the more wholesome foods. Also, you can plant flowers throughout your garden to attract and nourish the bees, and also other pollinators like butterflies.

If you would like to spread any organic ideas about helping out the honey bees, I have created this honey bee design on postcards, to help you out with your goal.

If you are or would like to become a bee keeper, you can let people know about your bee keeping with a custom yard sign. A suggestion, if you don't already do this, is to visualize seeing there being enough honey for both the bees and people to enjoy.

Thank you for stopping by. Your comments are welcome.

Happy Easter Postcards

Here you will find postcards for sending your Easter greetings. If you're looking for something unique and/or colorful, you've come to the right place.

This first one is my favorite to date. I did a painting of Easter eggs on a wispy pastel background. The eggs are in various colors and are decorated in pointillism designs.

This cute bunny rabbit is happy with all of its colors, a wonderful message for Easter and or for any time of the year. I drew the plaid design in on my artwork, not the bunny. : )

Are you a love of Easter eggs and or jelly beans? Then this design is for you. I had painted this colorful painting of Easter eggs, and then afterwards, I saw that they also look a lot like jelly beans!

Do you prefer realistic looking rabbits? This painting was inspired by poses of various rabbits that I have seen visit my yard.

All of the above designs can be customized with your own Easter greeting or message.

Happy Easter.

Art on Products - Peace Flag Products

The original flag for the United States had the thirteen red and white stripes, with a circle of stars. Using that as the basis for a new idea, I decided to make a peace sign out of the stars and place them on a background of red and white stripes. Their number is still thirteen, and there are fifty stars that make up the peace sign.

This makes a lovely design on throw pillows. The reverse side is solid red for more options.

They make a fun way to share some patriotic news on postcards.

Art on Products, Yellow Swallowtail Butterfly Stationery

butterfly in pointillism
The swallowtail butterfly has a tail like extension on its bottom wings; that is how it got its name, swallowtail.

I love butterflies, no matter what kind they are, and I also love painting them. The yellow swallowtail is one of many butterflies that I've painted so far. In this one the butterfly itself is done in pointillism. The stems and leaves are painted with regular acrylic blending techniques.

This pretty butterfly is shown to the left of the address on lined stationery. The address is easy to personalize on the provided template form.

A larger version is printed on these custom postcards.

If you prefer more private correspondence, this beautiful design is also ready on greeting cards.

And here it is on stickers; a pretty way to seal the envelope.

If your thoughts are more towards, Thinking of you, then this card is for you.

Thank you for stopping by.
